Perhaps the most magical of all yo-yo tricks.
This trick is traditionally done with a metal bottlecap, but those are pretty scarce these days. Plastic caps work almost as well, plus there is less risk of cutting up your fingers.
Put that finger to good use for a change.
Pro tips: 1) There has to be a hole in the crown of your top. 2) You have to either wet your finger to reduce friction, or have really slick dry skin. This was filmed on a humid day; you may be able to get more rotation in drier conditions.
Cigar boxes are one of the classic juggling props. And no, there are no magnets, or trickery of any kind. What you see is just plain ol’ skill.
This trick has been described as THE coolest yo-yo trick in the world.
Pro tips: 1) You must be using an unresponsive yo-yo. Some yo-yos work better than others for this trick. 2) Count the number of turns. Each flip changes the direction of rotation and therefore the direction you have to bind the yo-yo to get it to return to your hand. 3) If you’re having trouble with the mount (it’s called the Kamikaze mount), watch the thumb.
